Eva Jane Peck

New Year’s Eve

Going home to shred black radish
with an empty can of wild cherry tea

and Bergman’s movie
where a boy dives into a rock

Seeing your toothbrushes together in a cup
ended a dream for me

A dream of old dads on a wooden bridge
and I woke up cleaning my house

with tiny baby undershirts
Among other things someone else

wouldn’t think it ok if the cats
jump on the kitchen table
